President Barak Obama

OK.  The contest for the Republican and Democratic nominations seem to be over, but how many people are happy with the probable selections?  Senator John McCain?  Oh, hum.  Senator Barak Obama?  Interesting choice.  However what kind of person do I want to be President of the United States?  A year ago I thought that the Republicans would nominate Mitt Romney.  That choice made sense to me because he is a former governor of Massachusetts and Americans historically select more governors to be presidents than they do senators.  Romney certainly looks presidential, but the primary voters didn't support him that well.  Former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee was a possible choice, but only some evangelicals took him seriously.  Maybe the religious factor caused voters to stay away from Romney and Huckabee.  Senator McCain was the fall back choice for a plurality of voters, but McCain doesn't stir much excitement for the future because so much of McCain is of the past.  Voting for McCain is  like voting for a moderate Democrat.  If you want a Democrat then why not vote for one.
A year ago I thought that Senator Hillary Clinton would be the choice of the Democrats.  I thought that Senator Obama was too inexperienced  and sounded too much like a Muslim terrorist to be elected President of the United States.  I dreaded the thought of four to eight more years of a Clinton in the White House.  It's a package deal.  If Americans elect Hillary they are also getting Bill and that was totally unacceptable to me.  But I had difficulty accepting the nice looking Senator from the state of Illinois because of his name and his inexperience.  However, after listening to him for the past year, I have lost any hesitation I might have had about his name.  He is a well educated, well spoken individual.  Racially, Obama is half white and half black.  That might bother some people, but it doesn't bother me a bit because he doesn't sound "black."  He actually sounds a lot like I do.  After a year of watching and listening to Barak Obama I have decided that I like him as a person.  However, he is a liberal and that is a problem.
It will be much more interesting to have President Barak Obama than it would be to have President John McCain.  The writers of history books will have a field day with the first African-American president.  How effective will President Obama be in getting his liberal agenda through congress?  But then how effective would President McCain be in getting his liberal agenda through congress?  How many conservative judges will be appointed by Presdient Obama as opposed to President McCain?   Will the radical Muslims fear President Obama more than President McCain?
I have great difficulty accepting the idea that the American voters will choose John McCain to be president.  I'm not a liberal, but I would rather vote for Barak Obama than John McCain, because at least I would be helping to make history.  Hey, in four years it will be time for another election.  If we survive as a nation, we can elect a conservative to be President of the United States.

CONSERVATIVE MINORITY

It there any doubts that the conservatives are in the minority?  Guess what?  This minority is going to get smaller and smaller.  America is changing into a cradle to the grave socialist state.  This is what a majority of the people want and this is a democracy after all.  Our next president will be Barak Obama and he will lead us further down the socialist road.  The conservatives can huddle together and bemoan their demise, but that is how it is.
Demographic studies show us that the American population will be more and more hispanic.  These immigrants will be needing more and more social services.  That will fit right into the cradle to the grave mentality of the liberals and moderates.  Our country is changing and we might as well get used to it.  Conservative can consolidate their identity by leaving the Republican Party and forming the Conservative Party.  That actually makes sense because the conservatives are outvoted in the Republican Party now.  Why not make it official.
Perhaps all of the conservatives can pick a state and move there.  This would cause great consternation among the residents of that state, but hey, that's the American way.   So, what state would all you conservatives like to go to.  Sure, you would have to sell your house and uproot your family, but at least you would be in the majority in that state.  That has got to be worth something.  You can show the rest of the country what a conservatism is really like.
How about Texas?  It's big but maybe too close to Mexico.  How about Michigan?  Michigan could use a boost to their economy.  There are a lot of liberals who want to sell their homes because their out of work.  Hey, what a deal.  That settles it.  We're going to Michigan.  Look out Governor Grandholm.  HERE WE COME!

WILL HILLLARY PLAY RACE CARD?

Barak Obama is the first African American to have a chance to be elected Presdient of the United States.
Will Hillary Clinton take the high road or will she take the low road?  How many stories will be popping up on the internet and on cable news programs about Obama being a black man?  Will there be jokes about field hands and house servants?  How about having a black man with a muslim name as Presdient of the United States?  How much of that will rise to the surface?  It depends on how badly Hilliary wants the nomination.  If she takes the low road, she loses.  If she takes the high rode, she loses.
It appears that Barak Obama will have enough momentum to capture the Democrat nomination.  It will be close but Hillary will not win the nomination.  That means that Barak Obama will be the next president of the United States.  I had hopes that Mitt Romney would get that title, but it appears that he will have to wait until 2012.  John McCain doesn't have a chance against Barak Obama.  The Republican nominee will lose 53 to 47.  There will be no hanging chads this time.  A majority of American voters will have elected a black man with a muslim name to be President of the United States.

WHERE ARE THE REPUBLICAN LEADERS?

Why do Rebublicans have to settle for McCain?  There are still a lot of delegates that haven't been decided.  Romney may have quit campaigning, but that doesn't mean that McCain is the only choice.  Huckabee doesn't thrill too many voters.  Ron Paul is on another planet.  Are these the only possible candidates that are willing to call themselves Rebublicans?  Is this really the best the Republican Party can do?
There are a lot of people who claim to be conservatives, but are they willing to step forward and lead the way?
Is it possible to have ideas with no one to lead the way?  We cannot just put ideas on the ballot.  Someone will have to step up and say "Follow Me."  Too many conservatives would rather write books and appear on talk shows rather than wear the mantle of leadership.  Conservatives have a lot of idea people who seem to lack the fortitude necessary for leadership.  They talk a good show, but they are not willing to charge into battle to defeat the enemy.  They can always write books lamenting the decline of the country and whine about it to other weak-kneed conservatives.
Maybe it takes a good woman to be a real man.

McCAIN: THE WAGON MASTER

There is no doubt now that John McCain will be the candidate of the Republican Party.  Super Tuesday settled that.  Now, the task for John McCain is to rally the troops around him.  Will the conservatives opt to head off on a different trail or can McCain convince them to stay with the McCain Wagon Train.  It is a tough job being a wagon master because it is up to you to know the way and convince others that you know the way.  Mitt Romney's ancestors had their own wagon train that ended up in Utah.  His father was born in Mexico because some of the Mormons chose to follow a course of separation.  Will Romney pull his wagons in behind McCain and follow the wagon master to the White House?  Of course he will.
Oh, there will be some stray wagons that will end up in other places, but Washington is where the political promised land is located.  McCain knows the way even though he is carrying a lot of baggage that conservatives don't like.  The game has changed as a result of Super Tuesday.  Unity is the game now.  Can the Republicans unify themselves behind McCain before the Democrats unify behind their candidate?  Time will tell as to how good a wagon master John McCain is.  How much influence does Mitt Romney want to have with the main stream of Rebublican politics?  His future is dependent on how soon he gets his wagons in line with John McCain.

WILL CONSERVATIVES SHOUT OR WIMPER?

Tomorrow is Super Tuesday.  Hooray!  A national primary.  Let's see how strong John McCain really is.  Let's see how many conservatives support Mitt Romney.  Romney is the only person worth voting for, if you are going to vote.  A non-vote is a vote for McCain.  A Huckabee vote is a vote for McCain.  A vote for McCain is a vote for Hillary Clinton.  It is a little early for conservatives to throw in the towel, but it isn't too early to consider what to do if Romney doesn't win the nomination.  How much pain do you want to suffer under a Democrat administration?   Do you prefer the torture of a thousand knife cuts under McCain or the pain of a Rebublican heart transplant with a Democrat victory.  Do conservatives react with a shout of defiance or a wimper of conciliation?

MAYBE THERE IS ONLY ONE POLITICAL PARTY

Where is the two party system in the United States?   The moderate Republicans sound very much like conservative Democrats.  So if the real liberals are in the majority then the Democrats should win the election.
If the moderates are in the majority then the Republicans should win.  However, that isn't the way it works because the leaders of both parties want power more than honoring principles.  So the Democrats need only be a little more liberal than the Republicans and the Republicans need be only a little more conservative than the Democrats.  These are two wings of the same political party.
What happens to the ultra liberals, you know, the socialists when the Democrat leaders are cosy with the Republican leaders?  They get really upset.  Well, what happens to the conservatives when the Republican leaders get cosy with Democrat leaders?   They get really upset.  Well, why don't they do something about it.
But what would they do?  If the socialists formed a party, they would lose.  If the conservatives formed a party, they would lose.  They only way these fringe elements can influence the political parties is to withhold their support.
Let's see who is the most upset.  Will liberals stay away from the polls on election day?  Will conservatives withhold their votes and perhaps support the  Libertarian candidate.  There are other things on the ballot than the Presidency of the United States.  It's only a four year terms anyway, or maybe eight years if the president is re-elected.  Would a Republican loss generate more strength for conservatives in the party?  Is it possible to groom a conservative candidate to defeat a sitting Democrat president?  Of couse it is.  Ronald Reagan did it in 1980 when he defeated, or rather buried, Jimmy Carter.
Is John McCain another Gerald Ford?  Probably.  Well, guess what?  Some where out there is a conservative Rebublican governor who will take the time to travel as Reagan did between 1976 and 1980 to acquaint the voters with conservative policies.  Maybe then we can have two political parties again which includes a conservative Republican agenda.   I wonder if Mitt Romney is up to the task.
What happens if Mitt Romney beats McCain on Super Tuesday?  At this point that would be a big surprise, a wonderful surprise.  It would mean that there are voters who can see through the charade that is now going on with the Washington politicians in the presdential race.  These voters could restore a two party system to this country.
